A Thanksgiving tradition worth celebrating

I hope you’ve read my previous posts about how turkeys are raised and slaughtered. In addition to boycotting the turkey industry by leaving turkeys off my plate, last year I began a new tradition of symbolically adopting a turkey for Thanksgiving. I absolutely love this idea and have Farm Sanctuary to thank for it! After adopting a turkey, they’ll send you a certificate with information like your turkey’s favorite food, personality traits, and where they were rescued from, in addition to a photo. As I said it’s a symbolic adoption, and the money goes towards caring for these beautiful animals and giving them the lives they deserve. This year I adopted a turkey named Sandy at the Southern California shelter and hope to visit her very soon!

Farm Sanctuary is a really amazing advocate for farmed animals and I hope you will support them so they can continue to save lives. This Thanksgiving, honor turkeys by leaving them off your plate and symbolically adopting your own here.
